Please join us for a volunteer opportunity with Back On My Feet (BoMF), a nonprofit dedicated to combatting homelessness through running, community support, and employment and accommodations services. Deb Brown, National Events Director, and Andrea Enfield, Development Coordinator will lead us in preparing interview bags for BoMF members including notes of encouragements prior to their interviews. Help us pay it forward with this little act of kindness prior to the start of the holidays!

About Back On My Feet:

Back on My Feet combats homelessness through the power of running, community support, and essential employment and housing resources. Each morning, members and volunteers meet at 5:30 a.m. to run. Through the act of coming together creating a supportive community members begin to experience the transformative powers that running has to offer. After 30 days of commitment during morning runs, individuals are invited to join the Next Steps Program, where program staff works to create road maps catered to members’ goals. From providing access to educational programs, housing, and job training opportunities BoMF Next Steps Programming aims to set members up for independence. Members in the BoMF Next Steps Program can attend Financial Literacy courses and apply for financial aid through BoMF to help eliminate any additional barriers to self-sufficiency. It is through this Next Steps process combined with the Back on My Feet community that the program truly helps members get back on their feet and take their first steps towards a life of independence.

Many of the Back on My Feet members will be interviewing for jobs for the first time or the first time in a long while. As a runner, you are the only one that can put your feet one in front of the other, but your teammates can help you build the confidence and run alongside you as you do so. Similarly with interviews, while members are the only ones that can walk into the interview room, we can help them to feel as supported and prepared as possible by providing interview bags full of interview essentials!
