This interactive workshop is designed to help you navigate and feel comfortable managing the sometimes difficult conversations which arise in our personal and professional lives. The session with walk you through an easy framework which will help you understand why conversations related to identity can touch upon sensitive and complex topics, as well as empower you to feel comfortable approaching these conversations with curiosity, respect, and empathy to achieve a mutually-beneficial, positive outcome.

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Understand why conversations can become sensitive and difficult
  • Walk through strategies for establishing positive intent and desired outcomes for these dialogues
  • Role-play personalized difficult conversations

This workshop is part of Phillips Pathway for Inclusive Leadership (PPIL), focusing on the DEI essential skill of managing difficult conversations. It is also co-sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs as part of The Leadership Co-Curricular Series under the auspices of The Reuben Mark Initiative for Organizational Character and Leadership. This workshop will be led by Ixchel Rosal, Associate Vice President for Student Life at the Office of University Life.
