The Student Leadership and Ethics Board of the Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. Center for Leadership and Ethics invites you to join a luncheon discussion with Dr. Guruduth Banavar, Chief Technology Officer at Viome and former VP & Chief Science Officer of Cognitive Computing at IBM; and Sameer Maskey, PhD, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Decision, Risk, and Operations. The event will explore how the evolving field of artificial intelligence will impact the future of work across industries and businesses. This dialogue will touch upon corporate social responsibility and ethical leadership and decision-making in for-profit business environments.

Sameer Maskey is the founder and CEO of Fusemachines Inc. that makes Artificial Intelligence accessible to everyone through education, software, and services. Fusemachines Inc is a 200 person company with offices in 4 countries. Dr. Maskey is also Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University where he teaches "Deep Learning," "Statistical Methods for NLP," and "AI for Business" courses in the Computer Science department and the Business School.

Dr. Maskey has more than 18 years of experience in Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, and Data Science. Dr. Maskey previously worked as Research Staff Member for several years at IBM Watson Research Center where he invented various statistical algorithms to improve Speech-to-Speech Translation and Question Answering systems.

He has served as Session Chair, Program Committee member, Technical Committee member and Review Committee member at various international conferences such as HLT, ICASSP, ACL, Interspeech, NAACL and COLING. He has published more than 20 peer-reviewed articles and is an inventor of several United States patents. He received his Bachelors with Honors in Mathematics and Physics from Bates College and PhD in Computer Science from Columbia University.
