All students are welcome to participate in this interactive workshop designed to help you navigate difficult conversations which we all face in our personal and professional lives. The session with walk you through an easy framework which will help you understand the competing demands between intention versus impact, set psychological safety standards for all participants, and empower you to feel comfortable with your communication skills to achieve a mutually beneficial positive outcome. This workshop will be led by Ixchel Rosal, Associate Vice President for Student Life at the Office of University Life.

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Understand why conversations can be difficult
  • Establish positive intent and desired outcomes
  • Role-play personalized difficult conversations
  • Walk away with more resources and tools for practicing

This workshop is part of the Phillips Pathway for Inclusive Leadership (PPIL) program, focusing on the DEI essential skill of managing difficult conversations. It is also co-sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs as part of The Leadership Co-Curricular Series under the auspices of The Reuben Mark Initiative for Organizational Character and Leadership.
