Organizations are becoming increasingly diverse, yet hiring diverse talent is only the first step in creating an inclusive organization. It is essential for organizations to be able to create inclusive climates so that everyone is able to fully engage the work. What potential are organizations harnessing or failing to harness? Given the changing demographics of the workplace, it is essential that organizational members are aware of and able to discuss diversity dynamics so that everyone is engaged and motivated.

The goals of this session are to develop skills to discuss diversity dynamics and to address microaggressions in your organization. Developing these skills will increase organizational members’ capacity to work with others from different backgrounds and with different experiences, thus creating more inclusive climates. This workshop will be facilitated by Professor Caryn Block and Lea Lynn Yen.

Specific goals for the session include:

  • Enhancing awareness of the role that diversity dynamics play in your work with colleagues and the importance of being able to discuss this
  • Developing a common language so discussions can continue beyond the session
  • Acquiring strategies to discuss diversity dynamics when we work together in diverse teams

This event is co-sponsored by the Bernstein Center and Leadership Lab as part of The Leadership Co-Curricular Series under the auspices of The Reuben Mark Initiative for Organizational Character and Leadership.
